Dear SWASAP Members:
As you may know, I have had the extreme pleasure of attending four of our five state conferences over the last few weeks. I have enjoyed speaking with all of you and your hospitality is second to none. I want to thank TASSSP, ODSA, NM/WTASAP and LASAP for hosting me. I am looking forward to visiting with AASAP members in the fall.
As you may already know, the United States Senate and House of Representatives voted yes on a bill that is going to cut TRiO programs very deeply. TRiO sustained a cut of 26.6 million dollars for Fiscal Year 2011. This was a huge blow to our community! I want you to know that we as a community have to continue the fight. Please make plans for you and your students to attend the upcoming SWASAP Student Leadership Conference which will be held September 30 - October 2, 2011 at the Riverbend Retreat Center in Glen Rose, Texas. For over twenty years, Cambridge has provided scholarships to deserving students and offered foundation awards on test preparation materials and services to schools and organizations which support low-income and minority students. We are proud to announce that the foundation has surpassed the half-million dollar mark in assistance to deserving students and programs.
