Call for Nominations!

Wednesday, June 1st, 2011

As chairperson of the Nomination and Election Committee, I am convinced that there are hundreds of super leaders out there who could serve our SWASAP organization with great distinction. There are many of you who have graduated from the Emerging Leader Institute (ELI) and have already made a commitment to assume leadership role in your state organization and perhaps run for a SWASAP office. The time has come for you to show your colleagues how much you love this great SWASAP organization.   (Read materials below for more information.)
Sincerely,
Robert Carmouche

Urgent - President Evers’ Letter to the Membership

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Dear SWASAP Members:

As you may know, I have had the extreme pleasure of attending four of our five state conferences over the last few weeks.  I have enjoyed speaking with all of you and your hospitality is second to none.  I want to thank TASSSP, ODSA, NM/WTASAP and LASAP for hosting me.  I am looking forward to visiting with AASAP members in the fall.

As you may already know, the United States Senate and House of Representatives voted yes on a bill that is going to cut TRiO programs very deeply.  TRiO sustained a cut of 26.6 million dollars for Fiscal Year 2011.  This was a huge blow to our community!  I want you to know that we as a community have to continue the fight.  (click here to see/print letter in it’s entirety.)

$30,000 Foundation Award for SWASAP Programs

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Cambridge Educational Services’ founder, David Waldherr, recently announced the continuation of the $30,000 Cambridge Foundation award for program coordinators who may also be members of SWASAP. We ask your help in making known the availability of these funds.

For over twenty years, Cambridge has provided scholarships to deserving students and offered foundation awards on test preparation materials and services to schools and organizations which support low-income and minority students. We are proud to announce that the foundation has surpassed the half-million dollar mark in assistance to deserving students and programs.

Cambridge works with program coordinators to help their students gain entrance into colleges and graduate schools. The Cambridge Foundation supports proven success with program models that raise students’ scores on exams such as the ACT®, SAT, and GRE®. However, you may not know the details of our program models, which allow our partner educators unprecedented, universal, and consistent success in student achievement.

For more information:

Stop by Cambridge’s booth during the annual SWASAP conference, November 7-10th, 2010 or attend our speaking session on November 8th from 2:30 - 3:45 p.m in the Fiesta I room.
